I heard a flight of F/A-18's around the bay a few months ago who sounded like they were doing an airshow. They were on 250.2

Usually when they say "team," they mean it's two ships... One actually fly's, and one is backup. I don't think the Navy has a proper Hornet team that goes to all shows, like the AF F15 or F16 teams do. I've seen numerous units handle the Hornet demo... Usually FRS units.

In regards to the Super Hornet. The Navy now has 2 fully operational demo teams just like the Air Force. The west coast team, based out of NAS Lemore, CA is VFA-122 flying the F/A-18F. The east coast team is VFA-106 "Gladiators" out of NAS Oceana, VA also flying the F/A-18F. As stated above both units are (F)leet (R)eplacement (S)quadrons.

OK, I guess they made it official... I knew they were the ones that usually do it, but I had seen others. Thanks for the info.
