I am looking for Freqs thats the USS whidbey island since they are currently in my area. There homeport is at NAB Little Creek, VA. So if there is anybody with those Freqs could you post them since there are none on the datebase.

The Whidbey spent some time in New England and unfortunately those scannists in the area were not close-enough to get any signals other than possibly some RADAR in the 433 band [See Link http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ScanMe/message/2254 ]

You might have to be right on-top of them to get a signal, unlike some of the other vessels that radiate pretty well. Best of Luck Hunting.

Exactly.

I was pointing you to where info on USS Whidbey Island could be found. That's how I found it.
I knew there was a link on the Iwo Jima info; I checked to be sure before I posted. That link led to the Hydra page. I included BOTH links for your convenience.

As far a specific freqs, you'll have to search for the control channel. Chances are good that some comms may be encrypted.

I doubt that was coming from any ship. Signals on 456 MHz are usually inputs to 451 MHz repeaters. Utilities such as power & telephone companies are usually found in that segment.

Actually it's probably a Typo, as he left me a VM saying 457.6000

Much of the Navy has spread out, and I have been finding even some trunking in the 454-458 band, in-addition to the same Simplex and Tones.

IT took him a little while, but he did find the Whidbey :)

I'm finding them there. Submitted the
USS Porter DDG-78 and USS Stephen W Groves FFG-29 using the same Simplex Channel
for Shore-Ship Patrols as the 454-458 Mhz Trunking was not carrying too far from the Ship.

The Porters Trunk is http://www.radioreference.com/apps/db/?sid=5873
Site Name Freqs
001 Site 1 454.37500a 456.12500a 457.10000c 457.52500c

USS Sampson http://www.radioreference.com/apps/db/?sid=5596

001 Site-1 454.02500 454.15000 454.37500a 454.62500 456.12500c 457.10000a 457.52500a

Even tho they are assigned by the FCC to Business and typically used as the input to a Repeater, even some business have used them Simplex.

Sometimes SEARCH'n outside of the BOX will provide some interesting Monitoring.
