Got back early this morning from a week on St. John and figured I'd post a little update to my post from the last trip.

To my somewhat surprise, the only changes I found were that the VIPD and VIPA are now using voice inversion scrambling.

They also seem to be using "broadcast" talk groups that are using x-8189 for things like "call dispatch" or trying to hail a unit that isn't responding.

Still no signs of the P25 trunking system on the air yet.

Where did you stay on St John? Have not been back since before Maho Bay closed up. That was our regular spot.

In a cottage near the end of Bordeaux Mountain Road. We like that area a lot so have always stayed on the mountain, I took a short walk up to the tower site this trip. We already have the same cottage booked for next year with hopes of purchasing a place in the not too distant future.

I remember going to look at some parcel back in the mid 80's . I want to say Mosquito Cove or something. Anyway the road was impassible because a cement truck had overturned and its huge drum was still there rusting away. Probably still there with a road around it by now.
