Anyone know if the UTA (Utah Transit Authority) buses have switched to a trunked radio system? It's been at least a week or two since I've heard anything on UTA's 453 MHz frequencies, and they don't appear to be using the UCAN system. Anyone know if the buses have moved to 800/900 MHz, and if so, where I can find a list of UTA's new frequencies?

UTA as made a switch not sure on the type of radio system. I only hear one side of the transmission which is operations with an open carrier when active. Freqs that I found active are 939.3875, 939.4125, and 939.4000. On 936.5000, para transit, you hear both sides.

I know that they have been installing a new computer system on the buses ( similar to a Police MDT ) this may account for the lack of voice traffic on the standerd frequencies. If anyone has any info on the new system that may be interesting or helpful.

Talked to a para transit driver who advised me new radios were installed in buses and that drivers were being trained in operating them. GPS is also part of this system.

The reason for the confusion about what type of system they use is because they do not use any of the usual trunked or conventional formats. They have their own proprietary format.

This format has been in use for years on 453 MHz, now they appear to have put it into service on 900, probably with some significant enhancements.
