I talked to a very good source, when asked how far out this will happen was asked? a laugh, sigh 2-3 yrs. We have barely touched the test sites. Hardware is showing up, but it will be a long while. We just don't have enough people.(referring to working on current problems and trying to work on the new system. )
Really sounds like they have their hands full just keeping up with today.
Also different topic, How do you think Simulcast works as far as frequencies, and how they are used on the sites.
I am guessing most would think that 15 frequencies are on all sites inside the Simo. But that is not the case.
example
Utah Simo has 13 freqs. and 4 sites Byu(Provo bench), West mtn, Lehi bench, Spanish Fork Jail.
Of those 13 freqs 3 are on only west and byu site. 851.600 851.075 either 851.975 or 725(Don't recall right now)
If have the ability to use trunking software, those 3 channels have many times more traffic than the rest.
Car 2 Car, South Dispatch, south channels, hit these 100% of time. Some also can not do secure/encrypted traffic.
You will notice in some spots certain channels are much lighter, lots of steam, static.etc.
Most likely the traffic is not on one of the sites for that frequency.
It use to puzzle me until I realized simulcast can be setup in different ways.
Also this may have something to do when sites go into lockdown mode(Simo Fails). Sites can not talk to each other so they use separate frequencies. This is just my thinking. Maybe 4 sites spilt the 13 frequencies and prioritize by user id. Use your assign first then, ??
Sorry for the Ramble,, Maybe it will help or can discuss further.
