Is there a website that you can go to and do searches for hf frequencies you are listening to, like the shortwave am broadcast, if I pick up a utility frequency I could type it in and get some info on who it could be ??

There is the website
But better sources are the Frequency Handbook for Radio Monitoring HF (amazon or Google it) and the Klingenfuss Utility Guide.
Neither are cheap (~$100) and do not expect complete coverage but they are as good as it gets.
Online there is the not as good

Thanks for the information I was just looking to see if there was a online website for searches.

Try Short-Wave.info at the link below. You can search by frequency and a number of other parameters.

The online site is not as good. Making a good utility list for HF is a lot of work over years and they want money for doing that.

I have a few online lookup sites for broadcast but I have not found one for Utility frequencies, I think I'll do it the better way and just listen to frequencies and confirm them myself that way I will have a list of frequencies that I am sure of. That's the way I have done it for over 50 years in scanner radio. Thanks everyone for you input.

If you want current information, there's no better resource than the Utility DXers Forum reflector on groups.io. They have numerous text files that contains loggings by month.

If you don't belong to groups.io, or never heard of them, this is where many of the old Yahoo groups went when they went belly-up. No spam or other junk, and I've been with them since....a long time now.

Specifically what are you looking for?

I forgot to mention that once you are signed up, the mailing list of messages is available online and can be searched.

And I can't forget to mention their website - it puts our utility wiki to complete shame. No sense in trying to outdo this....

2 Major lists.
In German or English.

Lists by frequency or by time.

Lists can be downloaded and printed by users.

This does have some utility stuff, but its main focus is SWBC. The UDXF logs are current activity. Any such list is subject to a station going dark at any time - active logs don't necessarily have that limitation.

As an example of a station that's gone dark, there are listings for WCY which if memory serves closed years ago. In fact while there are a few private marine stations in the US that are still working, they're few and far between any more. Not like 20 years ago when organizations like Globe Wireless had a vast network of HF stations

I'm surprised that no one mentioned the Klingenfuss lists. They're quite authoritative for non-US stations....unfortunately, some German based companies tend to outright block US traffic (without using a VPN) or omit US stations almost entirely. Without going into details, it's been a dirty little secret that the scars of WW2 still haunt Germany to this day....Mike

Though Georg and Roland both seem to have vast quantities of out of date info and glaring gaps in their publications.

Online groups such as hfunderground, priyom and even the chat part of the websdr at Twenthe are generally more of the moment and therefore practical use. This is particularly true for novices who often need/want a bit of extra guidance on the modes in use/signals they are hearing.

I did mention his lists on my 9/23 replay to this tread.
