Since the IC-R20 is capable of displaying two frequencies at once . I programed one of the banks with my local police 10-codes. While scanning my local police I have the radio set to Dual Watch. Anytime I come across a 10-code that I'm not familiar with, I turn the L-Dial to that code and a short description is displayed. The IC-R20 continues to scan during this process without interruption.

thats a great idea you came up with. I will have to try that . If I may ask how did you do it?

Using the Icom software the 10 codes are frequencies that have a name. Example : Bank J channel 915 input frequency of 10.15 then assign a name PRISONER .You have up to 8 characters to work so some abbreviations will be necessary. Thanks for asking.

That is really cool! Obviously you are figuring out the R-20 much better than I am. I am having a problem trying to figure out something that should be pretty basic. Hopefully someone can tell me how to do it.

I just want to put 2 different freqs up on the display and then search between them. Hopefully when it reaches the end of the range it will continue searching from the beginning again. And I would think that I should be able to stop on a freq to listen and then resume scanning / searching again through that same range.

Can anyone tell me how to do this? If so, thanks in advance!

Using Icom CS-R20 software there is a place that you can put 2 different frequencies. It's call Program Scan Edge- here you can program up to 25 sets of frequencies .Example 00A 150.00 - 00B 159.0 then press and hold the DUALWATCH , this will put you in VFO mode . Now press and hold the MODESCAN key and you will see SCAN in the display. Continue holding the MODESCAN key while turning the A DIAL . You will see SCAN:ALL / SCAN:BAND SCAN:pROG-01/ SCAN:pROG-02
"SCAN" really means search in this setting. Now if you HOLD DUALWATCH Key and use these same steps -this will let you search 2 sets of Scan Edges at once. The A DIAL controls the bottom frequency set / B DIAL controls the top frequency set. Remember to use the MAIN/SUB key if you want to change step size or mode . Sorry if I confused anyone -
