Anyone know if United Tribes Tech College is using MOTOTRBO for its security staff's radio
system? All I get is digital type noise on their freq of 158.8200. It does sound like MOTOTRBO from
the sound clips Ive heard of MOTOTRBO.

Anyways it seems this new system is being used in the conventional mode. Does anyone know if you still
get random control channel noise from a MOTOTRBO system that is used conventionally?

I receive the digital noise about once every minute and it lasts for about 3 to 4 seconds each time.

A FCC search shows they are licensed for analog not TRBO. However, that wouldn't stop them from using TRBO on that frequency.

You are hearing the MOTOTRBO beacon signal. The default is a 4.32 duration with a 60 second interval. This is just idle information for the radios to determine signal strengh and determine if they should roam to another site. If not used, the beacon signal can be turned off. They are supposed to update the emission disignators with the FCC when moving to MOTOTRBO, but sometimes this isn't being done as required.
