Hi all,

I'm new to scanning, having just purchased a RadioShack Pro-528 on clearance. I've been gathering information where I can, but feel that my current scans are incomplete. I'm missing alot of replies to University of Madison Police transmissions especially. I pick them up on

460.1000
460.5000
856.7125
857.7125

but with lots of untracked hops or missed transmissions.

Are there other frequencies I'm unaware of, or is there a trunking system in use? I've looked for their TGs on the Madison citywide E2 system, with no luck.

There is a home game here today, so maybe I can catch some new frequencies when the radio activity spikes, but I'm hoping someone here can point me in the right direction.

Thanks!

I've never really had any issues monitoring them. Could it be something as simple as squelch not being set up properly?

You'll hear the same radio traffic on the 400 as well as the 800 channels. 460.1 is the main patrol channel and 460.5 is for events normally. As far as I know the 800mhz conventional channels are just patched with the UHF ones.

The police talkgroups on the Madison turnked system are not used much. I heard a couple officers using them on a 3rd shift one night just trying them out. UWPD Security officers do use their own talkgroups all the time though.

As far as Badger games, usually everyone operates on Madison PD EVENTS 3. The State Patrol usually has a patch of it on WSP Events (or known as Mad TAC).

If you need any help I may be able to help you out a bit.
