• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Regardless of the version, the real issue is they implement their audio as a phone call, not a media device.
That may be true. I know I went through 15-20 BT receivers before I found one that would pair properly and not make a bunch of stupid noises at the beginning of every transmission. I've got a whole box full of receivers ranging from $10 Chinese made to a $100 Bose. None work with the G4.
All this crap could have been avoided with a water proof earphone jack.

Agreed or make it a BT media device, not a phone. That's what the inital beep is from.

It's the sole reason I ended up with an SDS instead of a G4/G5. I had an ear plug on an old Minitor 2 that never had an issue, so I'm not sure what the problem is.

Id say it's Unication bought a million of the cheapest BT boards they could contract. And now their stuck with them unless some re-design takes place with the pager.

Okay, What BT receiver are you using that is working without the beeps?

It has no identifying numbers on it. It says only 'Transmit and Receive'. All I can tell you is I got it from Amazon for about $25 and it is a BT 2.1 device. It's been a year since I found it.

Can you check your order history and post a link to it?

Guys, they added a feature in the latest PPS that lets you disable the BT beeps. You have to make the change in your codeplug though. If you don’t, you’ll still have beeps by default. Go to tab D8, scroll down to BT headset setting and remove the check mark from the box. Click save and load to pager. My G5 is 4, maybe 5 years old now. Could never get BT to work properly before. I tried many, many devices new & old. Now it works like a champ. The one exception is the G5 won’t pair to my 2020 Subaru. But I have a cheap BT receiver that does pair and plugs into the AUX jack in the car. That combo works great.

It would be great if Unication would come out with a version 2 that has the headphone jack. Yes, a lot of buyers will complain, oh, mine didn't come with that. But why keep selling ones without it?

I'm considering doing the same if the above suggestion doesn't work, luckily I have only put 1.3 on two pagers so far.

Does Unication still have those versions downloadable on their website?
No, but your dealer likely has them available. I reinstalled v1.3 and fought it for a week trying different things to get the paging working. 6 days later I am back on v1.2! However, I have sent several reports with log files to Unication so hopefully the problems can be figured out. Good luck!

V1.30 is available for download on the Unication web site. See the release notes for updated features and fixes.

How does one get documentation on configurations that is more in-depth than definition of the features? As example, how do you set up a scan that also will alert on one of the frequency’s ?

I have not found this kind of example based guide anywhere yet. Thanks! We have 50 pagers and 35 struggling users.

I was able to find it in my downloads folder on my laptop and I did revert back to 1.2 on both pagers. I'm hoping they have a fix here as well, I really like the TGID hold feature, but if the pager isn't alerting for some tones it doesn't help much. Haha.

There are many YouTube videos. Some done Unication. They are extremely helpful with setting up alerts.

Maybe ask your dealer for assistance as well.

I upgraded my G4 to 1.3 and am unable to activate the TGID hold functions as shown in the pic below.
I used PPS version 3.16.9 and the G4 FW version is 1.3.

Strange, it wasn't working before, I think. This time around, I added 99 minutes to the hold timeout.
I do see now both the Hold and Blok buttons.
I'll go back and see if removing the hold timeout deletes the buttons.

I just went thru redoing the entire programming. Before this new G4 arrived, I've already created a profile, but using a different model #.
PPS wouldn't allow me to convert the old profile to the new, my head is swimming with all this changes.

Thanks.
