Va. Beach System

I am sure many of you know I have had one ^%$#$% heck of a time trying to receive Virginia Beach system on ORION. Yesterday and today my scanner is silent. I have made no changes, nor touched the scanner.

Listening to the live feed, it seems that user is having some difficulty receiving them.

Anyone else having an issue Sunday or today?

Most definitely. Been monitoring for months with some issues. Currently a 7PM EMS and FIre busy as all get out. Streaming is ok to good. My scanner dead silent.

Usually when this happens the 30th St site is down.
Anyone know about this possibly?
THe stream is pretty bad today, not sure where it is located.

I went down to the Lago Mar section of the city via I-264 and reception was pretty spotty for some reason.

VA Beach System

I am in VA Beach. I have a PRO-106 and I get VA Beach digital system very good anywhre. I use antena that came with the scanner.

Could you send me your programming file so I can compare to what I have. Possibly I am missing something to tweak.
I have to have a dedicated outdoor antenna, and an in-line amplifier to receive anything. If I do not have the amp I receive nothing.

Receiving Va. Beach P25 digital & analog systems full signal in Hampton with indoor antenna. Using Uniden 996T.

Well then it has to be my setup.
At this point I am not sure where to start.

Now today, without changing anything reception is better than its been in a long time.
The "T" is showing more than usual, and the signal bars are strong.
At the same time the live stream is worse than my reception.

VB ORION signal loud and clear in Suffolk via attic mounted 800mhz yagi. HP-1 extreme signal meter is great for finding the antenna's sweet spot.

Coming to Virginia Beach at end of month, just one question, do i eneter all frequncies as one trunk system and se it for roam??
Or is there a better setup?
any help would be appreciated
also, what site should i use for the closest Virginia State Police?

Hi Brian. You only need to program control channels for VB. Be sure you program the 800 MHz freqs, the 700 MHz system is ORION, the regional interop system. If the RRDB listing is confusing you, you can check my site listed in my signature below.
As for the VSP, the Chesapeake site is what you'll want to program. If you'll be monitoring on the way down, you'll want to program Williamsburg and Hampton if you're coming down I64; Accomack and Eastville if you're coming down the eastern shore. Program the apprpriate TG's for Chesapeake. You can find the STARS TG listings here on the RRDB and on my site.

we will be coming down I-64
Home QTH is in Western PA, and will come down through Maryland and Wva, then through Manassas and so forth.
I always bring a scanner and a few ham handhelds
I will make a note of your call and maybe we chat and possibly an eyeball while i am there
