Last couple of days it seems that Va. Beach trunked systems' signal is really weak. My in-vehicle BCT15 does receive but with a lot of flutter in the background, making the voice unintelligible. My base RS-2050 hooked to an outdoor antenna will not even lock onto the service.

I am mostly at the beach front and north end, if that helps with clues.

Nothing has changed on both units.

Any thoughts

Thanks

I am in my house with an 800mhz RS antenna on my PRO-95. I can pick them up load and clear. Even when I was driving around earlier I had no problems. The only antenna I use for it is the RS 800.

I guess I will have to drive around the city some. But honestly, nothing changed in the the way of radios, antennas, location. I hear nothing right now as the scanner will still not lock on the system.

bep, If you are still listening. I just heard a bus driver got hit with a vest by a student. Something metal was in the vest and cut her.

Heard that a while back today also. Kids are out of control.

Also about 12:30 the signal was back in my vehicle. I luckily then heard that the 29th street transmitter was back up. That must have been the problem

However

My base BCT15 is now locking onto the system, but the signal is still weak and cannot hold onto a transmitting talk group. It holds and then it drifts to static.

Still some sort of problem.

In NE corner of Suffolk at home with scantenna through TV amp with four outputs
Out
1. 60-84% on CC 860.4875 on Pro-2096. Voice traffic loud and clear.
2. Bars on 785D are minimal and voice traffic is scratchy but CC is constant and voice is uninterrupted.
3. 60+83% on CC 860.4875 on Pro-197. Voice traffic loud and clear
4. Same as # 3 on PSR-500
5. Shifted out # 3 to 2052. This scanner locks on with strong CC sound, but not picking up traffic unless walking through voice frequencies. Gonna suck this scanner into ScanControl and see whats going on.

Edit: VB bank in 2052 was without any talkgroup ID's reprogrammed bank correctly and it too is working fine.

I just noticed my very temporary Scantenna was moved in the wind. Now facing away from the transmitters. Will correct tomorrow, most probably the problem. I am getting a lot of leaves on the trees, very thick this year, so this may be part of the problem also.

According to RS my antenna mounts are in, so hopefully sometime in the next week I will get it up on a very stable mount.
