I am having difficulty getting the Pro96 to track VA STARS. I hear nothing unless I manually step to the controll channel in richmond 152.0375..then i get a varying % and noise. Nothing on any of the other channels, including primary or alternate.

Here is where I am at:

Since there are more overall site channels than what one bank will allow (>50)...I maximized the amount I could enter by deleting the non primary/alternates from the sites that were further away. I am located at the north end of richmond; near ashland and live further north up in Caroline Cnty. All sites have ;at a minimum, the primary and alternate channels with most sites having all channels. I have entered all of these in one bank called: VA STARS

As I understand it...one only needs to enter the primary and alternate channels to trunk a system, yet, if one has the space, then it would be best to also enter all the channels, should the system programmers switch or change the primary or alternate to one of those other channels. I do have the system set to MOT

I seperated each site with a dummy channel and have it set up thus: first entry is channel 00 (thru 49):

I do have "delay" on all channels. I do have all the talk groups entered. Both MOT 3600 & 9600 are set to normal (for some reason I think I need a custom trunking table).

Can someone let me know if I have something set up wrong or steer me in the correct direction. I do have the tri-cities entered; as well as hanover, and those all track fine.

btw: this is my first post since joining in Oct 06. Great site and I have read and learned a great deal from all. I started with the Pro97 (still have) and now have a Pro96. I think I am hooked.

Bottom line is..I am unable to hear or trunk this system and any help would be appreciated.

Thankyou
dc

Don, Do you have the Win96 program ? If so, I can send you a p96 file over email to load into your Pro 96. I'm picking it up as good as possible near University of Richmond.

carolinatoughguy:

fyi: in your multi table MOT9600CC....lower right offset should be 28672 in lieu of 28676.

I noticed that your "dummy channels" are actually just blank spaces (0.000). You should use real frequencies that will probably not cause interference. 1300mHz seems to be a popular one.

Thx jehm1212 for that catch. fyi: I went ahead and eliminated those dummies and entered the custum Pro96 chart in the multi table and all seems to be trunking fine.

Thx again

I just checked mine and I have 28676 in there and i have never had a problem with it working. Might try 672 and see if i notice any difference.

I am going to be at Lake Anna at the end of this week. I have been following doncollins, carolinatoughguy and FMON posts. I have a Pro-96, is the HR with STARS downloaded from the files section of YAhoo Groups for the Pro-96 okay to use for that area? Does anyone have anything different I could use. I would get it back to you with up-dated info if you like. Please e-mail me. Steve, NH Firefighter
