Hi all,

I am wondering which system to program into my BC396 for the VSP in the Arlington area. I can't tell from the lists in Radio Reference which system corresponds to it. In fact, I am wondering if it is even up and running in that area yet!

If not, then I guess VSP is still conventional VHF still. Richmond appears to have switched to the TRS already.

Am I on the right track? Thanks in advance. I am visiting both RIchmond and Arlington this coming week.

Regards,

Jim

right now it looks like northern VA is still conventional. STARS has had more than its fair share of problems being fielded.

There are a couple of threads further down with a lot more details on the system status. Though I am sure this will also attract other updates as well.

Yep, you're on the right track. All northern Va. is still conventional as far as VSP. If you want to enter STARS into your scanner, the Fork Mt. Site is probably the closest. There is a second site (I can't remember which one), but both have some distance from NOVA.

As Lynn said, you'll bet some other tips as well. Good traveling!
