Does any one have any "good to know" info about the Valdosta area; specifically for the Lowndes county trunk system.

Have you tried the RR database for the county? It has the CC's, TGID's, and who they are associated with. What else do you need?

They are 800 Trunked Digital...the RR Database is spot on for the county. The only thing not covered is Moody AFB, for the obvious reasons.

They have a letter on the Lowndes County Page requesting no data on their operations other than FAA info...

Interesting, I never noticed that. I wonder why they feel the need to not have that information available when so many other military bases are readily listed on here.
The info got removed many moons ago. At the time Moody was part of AFSOC.
Moody AFB is still home to a very large security forces unit and special ops rescue unit. The RR database is pretty darn accurate for Lowndes. The Sheriff's Office does use encryption on some TG's mainly narcotics and the FBI gang task force.
Here are the Lowndes unit numbers. If someone wants to put them in wiki feel free.

Lowndes County Sheriff's Office Unit Numbers
1ALPHA - Sheriff
2ALPHA - Chief Deputy
3ALPHA - Major
BRAVO UNITS = Patrol Deputies
CHARLIE Units = Court Unit / Transport Units
DELTA Units = CID Detectives / a few are FBI gang task force units
ECHO Units = Narcotics / Fugitive Squad / SWAT Units (often use encrypted talk groups)
JULIET Units = Jail Officers
SIERRA Units = School Resource Officers / DARE
INDIA Units = Interstate Drug Interdiction Units / Traffic Enforcement
KILO Units = K-9 Deputies
ROMEO Units = Reserve Deputies or OSI (Air Force Office of Special Investigations) agents working off base with sheriff units.
66X = Echols County Sheriff Units
Remerton, Hahira, and Lake Park just say "Lake Park 1", "Remerton 4", etc.....pretty easy.
