This morning at about 0130 (very approximate), I heard sirens and flipped-on the ole scanner. What I caught was Vallejo PD in pursuit of a car, leaving the city limits, eastbound on 80. Speeds were 105.

CHP took over the pursuit after joining at Green Valley Road in Cordelia. Then Fairfield picked-it up on surface streets near Air Base Pkwy. Eventually, the pursuit returned to Vallejo via 80, cut through downtown, and again returned to 80. After crossing the carquinez, the perps took a scenic tour of the San Pablo/Richmond area near Hilltop before finally TC'ing. An ambulance was requested.

Did anyone hear the initial call? What was the PC? CHP was OK'ing all of their units who were autodispatching to the pursuit due the "nature of the crime."

I heard a warning on Sacramento CHP channels that this pursuit might be heading this way. I then switched over to channels down there and picked up part of it, to learn it headed the other direction from me. If I remember correctly, the info here was just a traffic stop, but I am not 100% sure.

gmclam- It certainly could have been just a traffic stop. Lately I've noticed Vallejo PD's supervisors really trying to limit the number of units leaving the city limits, as we are currently experiencing a staffing shortage due to budgetary concerns. I didn't hear any kind of discussion along those lines this time. Along with the CHP traffic about the "nature of the crime" justifying additional units, I thought there might be more to the story. Perhaps CHP was referring to the speed of the pursuit (100+ MPH), which might warrant additional units in their view.

Sounds about right

selgaran- Thanks. The only thing they left out was the participation of Fairfield PD, who joined the chase when it was on surface streets in their jurisdiciton.
