Hello,
I am new to this site. Been into scanning for about 2 months, learning more
everyday.
I am looking for the lists of 10 codes, any number code, Vallejo, Ca PD uses.
I have looked everywhere I can think of and no luck.
My daughter is starting with the CHP and I have some of their codes, but they aren't
the same. Can't wait til Sept for her to help.
Love law enforcement and scanning.
Please direct me if anyone can.
Thank you,
Darlyn

Your master site
You need to be a LOT more patient for an answer......on ANY internet forum. Not everyone reads the forums on a daily basis. Or within every five hours like you just waited.

Plus, it helps if your subject line actually has information about what you want. Many read only the subject line, to see if it's something they know about or interesting to them.

'Can this be done' tells the reader exactly nothing.

'Anyone have Vallejo PD Codes?' would have been a far better subject line to use.

Do you have any reason to believe Vallejo is using 'non-standard' 10 codes in the first place? There are any number of APCO 10-Code lists around.

Here's a beat map for them, though, from the VallejoPD website

Dude, I think we would be more than happy to help. Heck, I bet if you came in and apologized for that post we'd STILL help out.

We don't visit this site because we're stuck up...it's a hobby.

Awful subject line

I read posts here almost hourly, except for the weekends. I must have skimmed past this subject line several times - it did NOT catch my eye. Only after receiving my nightly report of "California...." did I catch it. Now that I've read it, that 2nd post is really bothersome. Not a typical RR "member" for sure.

There does seem to be a set of 10 codes used most widely in most of California. And all of the agencies here use many of the penal codes quite frequently as well. Is there a place here on RR (the Wiki?) where these are listed? If not, it is something we should have.

Thanks,
George

10 Codes, 11 Codes, Brevity Codes, Radio Codes, Code of Conduct.

The last one applies to Radio Reference forums.
Wasn't there something said once... " Treat others .... "

This is a very generalized collection
http://www.freqofnature.com/index.php?m=Resources&p=Brevity Codes

Without the "exact" codes or Vallejo, I'm sure you'll still be able to figure out a great percentage of the radio traffic.

Arriving somewhere, but not here . . .
CODES CODES CODES . . .

That's why I'm FD - clear text all the way. As I tell my trainees, "Say what you want, want what you say".

Actually, I was PD for the first 7 years of my carrier. A lot can be said in numbers, but alot can be confusing also.

This reminds me of a CHP story out of LA (unknown if fact or fiction). As Officer was on a traffic stop, and the plate came back 10851. Well, the dispatcher calls the unit with a 10-36Frank. When the suspect heard this, he took off running. After a short foot pursuit, the Officer caught up and took the suspect into custody. When the Officer asked why the guy ran, he said, "I don't know what it means, but the last time I was stopped, and your dispatcher said 10-36Frank, you guys beat the hell out of me!".

It was his first post and maybe he thought this was a chat room. Well it is not and so answers are not instant. If he sticks with this site he will find the best help that has ever been available in the history of the hobby. I've seen some people do some incredible work answering people's questions and yes, even on the California forum.

I've lived in four states and found stuck-up people in all of them. The people in New Mexico and Colorado can't stand Texans, except when they are putting cash in the drawer. Then there are those rude people from New York City . . . . . . . There is always a reason anyone can come up with to dislike other people, but if you give most of them a chance you will find some great people.

I supervised a highway rest area for 2 1/2 years and met some great people, including those from the east who just could not believe that we get enough snow in the Sierra Nevada to cause the eastern entrance to Yosemite National Park (Tioga Pass) to have an average opening of May 25th. Then there are those above average snowfall years where it opens in late June. It may not be winter in the east in May but it sure as heck is at 10,000 feet in the Sierra. They accuse people from California of not knowing anything about snow until I explain to them that the average snowfall at my house is 17 feet and show them pictures of snow 50 feet deep on the road they don't understand the need to still have closed. Heck, the worst drought year on modern record in California resulted in more snow on Mammoth Mountain than Minneapolis averages in a given year. When I worked for the U.S. Forest Service I had to tell an older gentleman from Minnesota some of these statistics after he told me, at the front counter of our visitor's center, that "people in California don't know anything about snow."

The only opinion I formed about people from the east (anywhere east of Denver International in my book) is that they many of them did not know very much about the terrain and climate in California and it was my job to give them the best information I could. I met some wonderful people from every area of this country and most of the rest of the world while working for the Forest Service and at the rest area I supervised. The wonderful people ratio was at least 90% and it really did not matter where they were from. The New York City folks could still stand to lighten up though!!!!!

JA371, lighten up a bit yourself. Stereotypes can be self-fulfilling prophecies it you let them be.

I'm the guilty one!!

I admit it. I had Ca. Forum duty that night. I humbly apologize for not responding in a timely, efficient manner. My only excuse, as lame as it is, is that I am a single father. However the next time I have the duty, I will inform my five-year old daughter that she is just going to have to make her own dinner. I have thousands of people waiting for life and death information that is more important than her dinner. This I swear to this with my right hand on my Spider-Man comic collection. RR members, please accept my humble apology, it will never happen again. If you fine honorable people deem it necessary I will tender my resignation or give up my daughter. Please forgive me
