I've enjoyed listening to the Valley Metro buses on UHF FM for a number of years but in the last year they seem to have moved elsewhere. Does anyone know where? I see there are some "Phoenix Transit Authority" TG's on the RWC system. Would this be them or something else? I don't have 800 MHz DMR capabilities so can't check. Thanks!

I didnt notice Phoenix Transit system on RWC but there is the Valley Metro Rail. Phoenix Transit is DMR (found here). I know you cant get them, but just for reference.

Thanks, guys! Been monitoring VM Light Rail for the past ten years. The disappearance of the buses from UHF FM was the mystery and cellphone confirmed my suspicions. Guess I need another scanner! I have a couple that could be "upgraded" to DMR but they are fully occupied with P25. Too bad the buses had to leave analog!

Interesting, so busses themselves are on the DMR system, but security and other things are on RWC? Did VM not want to buy into the RWC or was there a different reason?

Valley Metro Light Rail is on the RWC system. They have their own security force.

Valley Metro buses are on the DMR system.

I don't know why the buses aren't on the RWC.

Money. They didn't want to pay the RWC membership fee which is pretty steep.

Agreed. They don’t need the level of in building coverage that the RWC provides since almost all of their radios will be mobiles. DMR equipment is cheaper too. I’m guessing transit built the DMR system for what a couple years of subscribing to the RWC would cost.
