Vancouver E- Comm " Questions"

Hi All


Looking for some information on the e-comm systemin Vancouver BC Canada


1. Is the system ESK Encrypted? i.e (control channel etc.)


2. I have a bearcat 246T scanner and was woundering what the system settings would be wide,narrow,sct........... I have also heard that the you can monitor fire only. The police and amb have all gone digital (ericsson edaccs).Not really intersted in listening in to the police anyways,maybe ambulance but that is not possible according to a few people and posts. I am going to work there and wil have some (lots of spare time).....

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but isn't the bulk of the Vancouver Ecomm system provoice? Provoice=unscannable by any modern day or future consumer gear...

I just came back from Vancouver few days ago with my BC246T and here are my observations:

1.) Control channel does not sounds to be encrypted, but you can hear some digital transmissions on the system frequencies from time to time (may be that's provoice)

2.) Put it in EDACS wide, each fire department will operate on it's respective system (ie. VFRS on Vancouver City system and RFD on Richmond system)

Nice job on adding that link... Glad to see that you have the talkgroups in there also. Can`t wait to see how it works...

I see some problems that I have done with the settings and also the freq`s are wrong in my radio. Butel makes this radio a dream to progam and a must for any 246 T user.. I will update you on how it works in a few days.
