Wondering of anyone has any info if and when the Portland Metro Area will be going to digital? Will be relocating my onstar in my Hummer to another spot and fill the hole with either a BCD996T or BCT15 if no plans for digital I will go with the BCT15...

years away.... as in 3-5 + No one has the funding for this... unless they figure out a way to get some of the stimulus money provided by Mr. Obama.

It wouldn't be a bad thing now to get a radio that can do P25.

I only know of one agency in the Portland area that is all digital and not encrypted, and it's a small agency. I agree with the other person who commented that, even though there aren't very many agencies using digital yet, it's probably a good idea to start gearing up for it.

I went with the BCT15 I will wait the possible few years and get the latest radio offered at that time.

I personally have an Pro-106 so I can listen to the few P25 operations in the area. I also travel to many places WHERE there is more P25 operations to listen to (s.uch as Seattle or Toronto).

I also own an ASTRO Saber so I can talk on 2 meters in P25.

Is that a local or state agency? If so who is it? Is it P25? I don't know of any in the Portland area using P25 aside from the Feds, the railroad and some hams.

Hi Jim. I was referring to the feds: the Federal Protective Service. I probably shouldn't have said 'small agency' in that they are nationwide, but their local force is smaller than the other 'locals.'

OK, we have them in most of the radios.

Are you in Portland, or the Portland area? Can you hear my P25 machine (just my hardware, not my call) on 145.490? I also have a mixed mode machine on Prospect in Salem on 442.025.

I'm in Clackamas, just south of Portland, just east of I-205. I'm in a little canyon but I've been surprised that my low elevation hasn't caused me too many problems yet. I'll check out the two repeaters you mentioned; I just now entered both into my scanner. I have heard some things from Salem at my location but it's mixed. I can hear most Portland transmitters ok. I haven't taken time to listen to amateur digital transmissions yet so this should be interesting. Thanks for the info.

Ah yes, the FPS. There fun to listen to. TSA at PDX can get interesting too along with the UP P25 system.

I now own an ASTRO Saber so I can talk on the 145.49 repeater in IMBE :)
