VARA HF Chat Link Error - Received data stream not correct format.

Hi all,
I'm new to VARA HF. I have Winlink working properly and can send and receive messages. I am trying to connect to a station
via VARA HF Chat. I am able to connect, but am then immediately disconnected and receive this message:

Link Error - Received data stream not correct format.

I get this before I type anything as a chat message.

Any ideas?
