FYI VCU/MCV has added a new talkgroup to the RCA four site DMR Connect Plus system. Control appears to be at VCU. It involves 24 hour security foot patrolling individuals via shifts in various designated areas i.e., "L1","R4",etc. Possibly most are paid students. It appears to be a large pool of different security patrol individuals per shift based on the different numbered ids radio callsigns heard.
The controller's callsign is "Command" and his superior appears to be "156". Each security individual is assigned his/her's unique radio id number callsign, i.e., "18, 126,136 and 153, etc." Each time there is a shift charge "Command" is advised as to who is being relieved and who is beginning his/her shift. Aside from possibly being armed with a pepper spray, I seriously doubt any firearms were issued.
Comms so far involved...surprise!...radio didn't work very well inside the building but when stepping outside it worked better;Contractor needs access to a particular building for a delivery and can't get in; Need to access a certain student's room and must have a key; A call to check something at the west hospital; Have someone pick up this lady at the psych center ..etc.
Frequencies and color codes used were those for Site 1 Richmond. Both S1/S2 time slots used.
I recall about 5-7 years ago VCU having something very similar to this operation using the CB Ch.19 frequency of the 400 mhz. range,.... 464.5000 mhz! However, the VCU analog repeater had more ERP and I could always hear it above the QRM.
