VECC dispatched Unified Fire on two different field fires this afternoon and the responding units were told to respond on TAC 8 for one and on TAC 9 for the other.

I'm not sure which TGs are those TAC channels. Does anyone know?

I never encountered them in scanning all the TGs I have programmed into my scanners, but that simply means that the scanners were not on that TG at the same time there was radio traffic on it.

I bet they were talking about the OPS channels...

I have the following:

21024 - VECC OPS 8
21056 - VECC OPS 9 (PD Only)

Here are the Tac channels I have for VECC. I here training mostly. I did here the two brush fires handled on the Tac channels today. It may be because they are expecting many of them?

Tac 7 21376
Tac 8 21408
Tac 9 21440
Tac 10 21824
Staging 11 21856

Are you sure?

Viper, it's not that I doubt you, but are sure about those TGs being the TAC channels for Unified Fire? The reason I ask is that TG 21824 and TG 21856 don't even show in the Database. In fact, there are no TGs with 218XX in the Database. I know that doesn't necessarily mean anything, but I just want to be sure.

I can verify that these TG's that Viper has provided are infact used by the Unified Fire. I have heard quite a bit of traffic on these channels in the fast few weeks with some of the bigger wildland fires around the county. On the main response channels they will ask the dispatcher to secure a Tac channel for say the "bravo sector", she will tell them Tac-9, 10 or what ever and this is where they end up.

21408 and 21440 had moderate traffic on them today, I have 100+ hits on each. 21856 had a few hits.

Just for fun, attached are the hits from about midnight until 6pm on the UCAN SLC site.

In the case of a TG, blank space and a # that means the TG is not in the rr.com dB IF the number is other than 0 there was a 99.9% chance traffic was active on that TG and it is uid.

Thanks, Dave, that is very interesting information. It will take me a little time to sort through it because I am interested what TGs were really active on that site.

Hello,
You are welcome,
From my monitoring of 2 sites it is very interesting what TG's appear on them based on the geography. I still can't quite get over Park City and other agencies in that area being on the nelson site UNLESS someone lives down here and has a radio that goes home with them.
That could explain it....

I might have to go up to PC some evening this week and see who is on their site.

I'll organize all of my collected information after my trip is over and put it on an FTP site for download for a few days.

Unitrunker is really easy to get going. You just need a radio (even the least expensive one) with a discriminator tap. an old 400Mhz W98 machine works great for me at home or my laptop XP on the road. My trusty 2026 is my tuner/slicer into the line in.

Dave, this will be very interesting to look at. Thank you for bringing your Unitrunker. In hope that you have had a chance to do some monitoring as well. SLC area is very fun to listen too :)

Getting lost

Even back when we were monitoring VHF and UHF, Park City, Heber City, Wasatch County, and Summit County could be copied here in the SL valley. The only time I could not hear Heber City PD was when I was in Parley's Canyon. (I was a truck driver and drove SLC to Duchesne and back every day.)

I would like to get into this UniTracker, but I don't understand all the electronic stuff. Talking about slicers and discriminator taps has left me WAY behind the rest of you. Darn it anyway! I am really lost here! Guess it is time to start studying again and at my age that is going to be a task.

By the way, Dave, what has brought you to our little corner of paradise anyway? This has been like a breath of fresh air.

Hey Guys,
I'm glad I have peaked peoples interest and that there is a semi-local that can help out with the data slicers. All you need is a radio that can tune into a data channel. It must have a data slicer out due to the fact that the headphone output filters out some of the audio range which UT needs to decode.

Anyhow, I hope I'm not offending anyone by jumping in here and blabbing alot about this stuff. I just like to help out where I can.

I'm here on business, I'm an acoustic engineer by trade and one of our organizations is hosting 5 days of deep technical training on speakers and measuring them (simply put anyway)

I went to JH and HS here in the 80's. Love this place but home is Wilmington DE.

Attached is the dump from Nelson Peak for the last 24 hours. Alot of UID groups in the 28 and 38000 range had activity. Most of the time stamps (which I ommitted due to the fact that they tend to clutter things up) indicate they went silent (had their last hit) between 5 and 6pm. They might be local 9-5 services type groups...or may be fire related. Have a listen and see.

Sorry to day I an unable to pick up any Davis or Weber Co CC's with this radio. Site 15 and 16 have had nothing but corrections TG's...go figure....

Dave

Anyone else notice the high number of hits on some of those TGID’s that are not identified?

28352 = 166 hits
28416 = 429
28448 = 199
38528 = 195
38560 = 215
40224 = 537 (This is in Tooele. I think it is the jail but not 100%)
40864 = 50

Or am I reading this print out wrong?

Well, Dave, there has to be an interesting story as to why you have Junior High and High School education from here but that Delaware is home. It explains your knowledge of the area which struck me right off. I certainly have not been offended by you sparking a renewed interest in our hobby.

Rolfman, yes, I noticed that too. Looks as if we have a mystery to solve. Who do those TGs belong to? I dunno.
