VECC Tour - Important Information, Please Read

Hey all, as I had written in the "May Meeting" thread we have set up a tour of the Valley Emergency Communications Center (VECC) They handle all of the 911 calls for SL Valley as well as much of the dispatch. I had to create a seperate thread as there are a few vital details that must be taken care of:

Tour Date: May 23rd 2009 1300hrs VECC

I have scheduled us for 10-15 people. They CANNOT have us go over the 15 number. Persons wanting to attend need to PM me with their full name and date of birth prior too Tuesday, May 19th 1200hrs This information will be e-mailed to VECC for a REQUIRED Background check. This will be first come, first served as to being able to attend. If you plan to bring any guest they will need a background check also.

This will be a great opportunity for us for sure. I also advised the Police Operations person that we will likely have tech questions about VECC, UCAN, and those services.

One correction, VECC does not handle all 911 calls in Salt Lake.


SLCPD dispatch handles all 911 calls for Salt Lake City, with a call volume that's very similar to what VECC does for the rest of the valley.

Also, West Valley City does their own too if I'm not mistaken, and if I'm wrong, I apologize in advance

West Valley is part of VECC.

Salt Lake City is the only agency which answers their own 911 calls.

UHP has their own dispatchers, but 911 calls are transferred there by VECC.
