SWEETWATER — An Elk City man died from injuries sustained in a single-vehicle accident on Monday morning in Roger Mills County, authorities said.
Barrie David Mouncey II, 23, died Monday night in an Oklahoma City hospital.
The accident happened shortly before 7 a.m. Monday on State Highway 30, five miles north of Sweetwater.
Sierra Thomas, 18, of Cheyenne was driving a car north on the highway when the vehicle went off the road's west side, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. Thomas overcorrected, causing the vehicle to go into a broadslide and hit a concrete culvert. The car rolled 1 1/2 times before landing on its top.
Thomas was thrown about 25 feet. Mouncey, who was a passenger, was thrown about 125 feet.
Passenger Dennis Thomas, 33, of Cheyenne was pinned for about 30 minutes.
Sierra Thomas was taken in fair condition to an Oklahoma City hospital; Dennis Thomas was taken in critical condition to an Oklahoma City hospital.
No occupants were wearing seat belts, troopers said.
