Vehicle in Ohio River

Mason County and Gallia County, OH fire units are searching the Ohio River at Pt. Pleasant for an SUV that went into the water and submerged. The lights and windshield wipers were on, but it is unknown if anybody was inside. Divers from Jackson County have responded to assist.

Just an update on this - an object consistent with a vehicle was spotted on sonar and the location was marked. Dive operations had to be suspended Tuesday due to the weather and water conditions. Operations are planned to resume today with divers from Ohio BCI. Based on security camera footage, the vehicle is believed to be a GMC SUV stolen from Pt. Pleasant that morning. No person has been reported missing so far.
