Vehicle Mounting Location

I have a 16 inch 800 NMO antenna that I need to mount on my vehicle. I am unable to do a permanent roof mount and I need some advise on what is the best alternative. Should I either do a magnet mount on the roof or a trunk lid mount? I would prefer to do a trunk lid mount but don’t want to have a lot of signal loss.

I have used mag mounts before and they always leave the telltale circular scratches regardles of any claim to the contrary. I would reccoment a trunk mount with the best coax you can afford. Most of the loss is through lessor quality coax. I will never use a mag mount again.

If you use an L-bracket, any holes would be out of sight on the inside trunk lip. This is given your using an NMO.
