Vehicle Pursuit I-295 at the 43MM

VSP just ended a pursuit that received speeds in excess of 120 m.p.h. I am just dumbfounded by the age of the driver of the vehicle....12 years old. Troopers said that the subject refused to give any info so they are running the vehicle registration to try and find out who his parents are. I'm just simply amazed...

So did the Richmond media. I found nothing on this either yesterday or today. Though I did hear that a call center in Hampton was closing (60+ miles away).

Got to love the 'news' media.

Yup. I looked everywhere too. There's nothing on any websites at all. Not sure how they were able to miss it, it lasted for a good 1/2 hour.

But they found time to report on a call center closing in Hampton which isn't even in their viewing area. Maybe it was because no one put it on AP for them to copy.

I really have little or no respect for the media. They are what I've come to call the I3 (that's supposed to be a superscript 3 for an "I cubed"). Stands for Incompetent, Incapable, Ignoramuses.

Legal issues involved

Obviously a 12 year old running from the police in a car doing 120+ is a common everyday occurrence and doesn't meet the requirements to be reported as 'news'.

The media wouldn't be able to just "run with it" either until the LEA released the info due to the minor being involved. Was a big story on it on CNN and Fox news about it. It's something that can get the LEA fined if the DA wishes to do so. Sometimes, the agency just doesn't want to release it.

I'm like you, I know too, but not everyone is familiar with the 'commonwealth' (sounds very socialistic to me, like a "peoples republic") approach used here in Virginia.

As for the 'legal' issues, that has never seemed to stop the press before. Just don't announce the name of the 'driver'.
