While at the Verizon Center for the circus this past Sunday, I saw some DC Fire/EMS personnel walking around, carrying the bright yellow radios. This got me thinking of what MPD and DCFD use when inside Verizon. I know MPD uses the SOD talkgroup (16656) for outside traffic control during events, but I don't know what either one uses inside. Anyone have ideas?

Thanks,
Dave

If they're full sized radios they're probably just the Motorola XTS-3000/3500/5000's in public safety/OSHA hazard yellow color. Some DCFD/EMS personnel get the yellow & some seem to get the black ones for some reason. They're likely just tuned to the regular 800MHz TRS.

dc2wheel,

Thanks for the response. I was kind of wondering if anyone knew specifically what talkgroup/conventional frequency they were on.

And yes, they were definitely the standard-issue radios that they use every day.

Talkgroups are assigned as-needed. Not like when we had a single "RFK channel" way back.
