Hi all,

I am hearing a repeater here in Grand Junction, CO on 158.925. The base ID is "CONTROL" and all the units seem to be "KILO" units. There is not a lot of traffic on this one, so I'm not getting any locations to go by.

There is a State of UT license in the FCC database that lists a repeater on Little Mtn with the control point in Vernal.

I can't say for sure that this is what I am hearing, but I also can't find a Colorado license for a repeater to match either.

Anyone familiar with a state repeater system on 158.925, or an agency that uses CONTROL and KILO units?

Thanks

Chris

Chris,

Here is a list of stuff that I found for 158.9250:

Call Sign - Name - Transmitter City - State - Service

KNCW546 - Colorado, State of - Ft. Collins, CO. - Local Gov.
KNJX850 - Colorado, State of - Boulder, CO. - Local Gov.
KNNS889 - Grand Junction, City of - Grand Junction, CO.- Police
KQM721 - Del Norte, Town of - Del Norte, CO. - Local Gov.
KVR839 - Dolores, County of - Pleasant View, CO. - Local Gov.
WPLF782 - Garfield, County of - Rifle, CO.- Fire
WPLW650 - Las Animas, County of - Trinidad, CO. - Local Gov.
WPTZ309 - SW Washington, County of - Yuma, CO. - Fire
WYG312 - Colorado Springs, City of - Colorado Springs, CO. - Local Gov.

KAR446 - Logan, City of - Logan UT. - Local Gov.
KNAP252 - N. Salt Lake, City of - N. Salt Lake, UT. - Local Gov.

WPDS897 - Utah, State of - Vernal, UT. - Local Gov.
WPTV808 - Sanpete, County of - Manti, UT. - Local Gov.

As for the other part of your question, sounds like a police frequency of some sorts. Some police agencies will refer to their station as "control" and the K9's as a "Kilo" unit.

Many of these are on the wrong side of the rockies for me. The ones that are in range are mainly repeater inputs, or simplex channels. What I'm hearing is definitly an output.

KAR446 - Logan, City of - Logan UT. - Local Gov.
KNAP252 - N. Salt Lake, City of - N. Salt Lake, UT. - Local Gov.

I think the only one of these that is close enough for me to hear is the Vernal one, but that would appear to be a state system and I'm not sure that would be correct for what Im hearing.

The little traffic I hear sounds like a small PD. These don't appear to be K9 units since ALL the units are KILO units. Also Colorado doesn't tend to use the international code KILO for K, but instead uses the police type code of KING. Another problem is that they dont say the unit numbers clearly, so what sounds like KILO-8 in one conversation sounds like 208 in another one, so I might even be off with the KILO designation.

I may be stumped until I hear some more addresses. Its really a S-L-O-W agency, so I havent heard many calls for service yet. Also, I only discovered it recently on a band search.

The license says this is a state repeater located on Little Mtn in Unitah County.

I've figured out that I am hearing this one for sure. Today I heard unit 38A-633 telling "Control" that he was enroute from Roosevelt to Vernal. According to the old Monitor America book, that would be a Dept of Corrections unit (?).

The same "Control" comm center is the one that dispatches for the KILO units which appear to be a small PD or SO. The only address I have heard so far is 200 N. State St. Most of the rest of the calls have been handled by phone or just by telling dispatch the business name without an address.

Monitor America says the letter "K" is used by agencies in Summit County, but I dont think they would be using a repeater in Eastern UT.

Any ideas which PD or SO this might be?

38 Alpha is Corrections/AP&P (Adult Probation and Parole)

As far as unit identifiers in Utah go a lot of different agencies use Kilo. Summit County is the official one but areas like Vernal use a consolidated dispatch utilizing one or more counties dispatching local PD's, state agencies such as UHP or AP&P, fire and DOT. Last time I monitored the area Uintah and neighboring Duchesne Counties used a consolidated dispatch.

Would this be a local agency operated consolidated dispatch center, or would it actually be the UHP Vernal comm center?

I know this is a really old thread, but the answer is KILO units are Roosevelt ambulances. They are all run out of Uintah Basin Communications center that services all of Uintah / Duchesne / and Daggett county.

Vernal also added a Frequency on Bruin Peak that covers the Carbon County area. We can Hear some of what goes on in the Uinta Basin. on 155.880. Also a Business Frequency that comes From Vernal Bluebell and such also can be heard on 152.375. That would be neat also to have another stream from that area there is one already.

There is one stream for the area, but it only covers a bit on the far west of duchesne county. I would love to get the one for Vernal and Roosevelt up. Need some advise on how to get it all set up and working.

Vernal Seems to have linked up the 852.5125 ITAC/ State/ National Emergency channel to the Bruin Point 155.880 UHP or County Channel Not sure. But They Are using it. It Has no PL tone that the 396T can decode. The National Frequencies i thought was supposed to have like a 156.7 pl. Any Ideas on this? Bruin Point Frequencies should be heard in some in Vernal area.

Itac 3 Repeater

The Itac 3 Repeater on 852.5125 appears to be linked to the Steamboat and Bruin VHF repeaters. From what i have been able to find this repeater is located on Tabby Mountain. I have put the other 800 MHz Repeaters for the basin in the scanner and will report on them so far nothing else appears to be patched to 800 mhz that i can hear. I don't have anything the will decode pl tones on 800 mhz so i can't help there. Thanks to enosjones for the heads up on the itac repeater being patched.

I just drove through Price on the way from Provo to Canyonlands and noticed the same link you mentioned. The tone of 162.2 Hz was present on 155.880 but none on 852.5125. I'd forgotten I even had the 800 MHz frequencies in my scanner until this showed up!

Sorry I didn't have a chance to hook up with you Enos. It was a rushed trip with my dad and brother in addition to my wife. We drove the White Rim Trail and backpacked out to the northern overlook of the Confluence of the Colorado and Green Rivers.
