I need to return to the previous firmware version and I did not get a good save before I upgraded to version 3. Currently I have lostt all APCO 25 dervice from my home area. I did not have any reception issues before the upgrade. I have tried the default P25 decode settings, as well as the maunual settings. I was hoping Uniden support would have replied to my emails, or maybe UPMAN would have some information how to improve the reception or where to get the old firmware. I fully understand they are overwhelmed helping people. If anyone could link me to the version 2 firmware, I would be able to enjoy my scanner at home again this weekend.

You need a serial number that matches your ESN/checksum. So If you have the serial number for V2 that uniden sent, then all you need is the scn file and your good to go. If you lost your V2 serial number, for now your screwed. Unless Uniden re-releases V2 and reissues serial numbers for V2 again.

You can revert to V2 without a V2 key. Note that you will likely need to reload your programming after reversion.

I tried rolling back a friends 396 to V2 using my V2 key - didn't work. Left the serial field blank - didn't work. Put V3 with valid V3 key - worked.

I guess we will try this again. It's the weekend, so we got lots of time to experiment.

Thanks Paul

Can anyone put up the V2.scn file for download or point me to it?
One note. I did re-download the V3 file. Then reloaded my BCT396T. I have started receiving weak signals from the APCO 25 and the Starcom 21 at home. Yea! It still is a weakersignal and I am sure I am missing some transmissions compaired to what I have been receiving.

THANK YOU UPMAN! Your hard work is really appreciated!

Here's V2 firmware

Confirmed on my 396T, Upman is 100% correct. You do not need a V2 serial number if you already have V3 firmware installed.

To downgrade from V3 to V2, browse to firmware 2.00.07.scn. I had to check the "Enable Major Version Up" and left the serial number field blank.

Here's firmware 2.00.07: http://rapidshare.com/files/150699512/BCD396T_V2_00_07.ZIP

Cheers

Thank You for the Help. I am only receiving the APCO 25 and Starcom21 sites intermittently. I hope this will get them back!

Thanks Again!

Thanks to XTS3000 for your help! The V2 firmware got my APCO 25 and Starcom 21 systems back to normal receive strength. I have been hitting them normally now. The scanner works as before, doesn't sound as good as the upgrade did. Better to have the old problems verses nothing. I can't wait for the bugs to be worked out of V3.

Sorry I didn't get back with the report last night, company and a late dinner got in the way.
