Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Vertex EVX-539 change band range question

I have a bunch of EVX-539 radios and I love them. One died, so I purchased a replacement on ebay. All of mine are UHF D (450-512), but this radio is UHF A (403-470). I get a frequency mismatch when attempting to download my previous radio programming. I am using CE151 v1.06. I have tried using \manu or \m or -m, thinking this is the way to change the frequency in Developer Mode, but so far nothing is allowing such a change. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Changing freqs only won't fix the mismatch. It's model # too, and it's tuned 403-470. I'd suggest either the pain of a new template just for that radio... or as it's Ham range (more rare) you could probably resell and get one that matches pretty easily and perhaps make a profit.

Thank you radiotweester for the reply. Luckily, I can return it to the seller and I was waiting on a reply like this before doing so. I do not want to rebuild an entire profile just for this one radio (all of the frequencies are under 470, by a very slim margin). I do not want a one-off in my collection, which would make reprogramming all a pain, and possibly a resale more difficult some day in the future when I eventually upgrade.

I will send it back, and look for a different model. Thanks again for the reply!

Yes, having an oddball, even in a small fleet, can be a real pain to change and reclone. Glad you can return it.
403-470 actually for resale is actually easier because it opens it the Ham buyers who want full 420-450 without mod/tuning. (a little useless trivia :D)
