I live in a trailer court and am not suppose to have any outside antennas, but I'm thinking I might be able to get away with a multi band vertical Dipole Antenna. I'm thinking of possibly an Austin Ferret or something along that line. I know it's 8' long, but just looks like a long white tube, not an antenna, right? I might get away with it.
What does everyone think of the Austin Ferret? Is there something better that looks similar to the Austin? I mainly listen around 860 MHz to the local PD and Fire and MilAir, but would prefer a wide coverage antenna.
The PD are using RACOM EDACs right now, but are switching to a yet unknown digital system in two or three months, if that makes a difference on an antenna.

The Ferret is an excellent performer, just tie a flag on it and nobody will know the difference. If someone questions "the wire" just tell them it's an electric flag pole and walk away before the next dumb question.

Think camouflage. Paint a Scantenna with Black, Brown, Green, Tan. I know someone who did this and with trees in the background you just cant see it.

That would be the ultimate "hidden antenna",I'd like to see a pic of that,(if you could distinguish between it/and the foliage)

I have actually seen that done with cell towers. I have even seen them with fake branches and leaves... Pretty interesting. Made me do a few double takes.
Certainly does hide them somewhat, cause i guess people think they look "ugly" Hmmm...

Cant find a pic on the web right now...

Cool pics!

I think I'll wait until Christmas gets closer,go to the store and buy about 500 ft of that fake greenery rope garland, and wrap my tower, and antennas in it!

(that would really get me kicked out of the neihborhood!)

LOL!
