Most (maybe all?) current HT's and mobile radios automatically set the default 2m offset (600 kHz) +/- as prescribed by the ARRL bandplan. In a very few places, e.g., the NYC area, there are a few 1 MHz offset repeaters... and those offsets have to be programmed per memory. This Web site has a list of repeaters at Alabama Scanner Frequencies and Radio Frequency Reference; it is sorted by county. For some reason the Alabama Repeater Council that coordinates repeater frequency assignments doesn't have a directory on its web site (boo!). Or search 145.110 to 145.490 in 20 kHz steps, 146.610 to 147.390 in 15 kHz steps to cover all of the standard 2m FM repeater output frequencies. HTH.
