VHF- Air antenna for Pro-96

I notice the VHF Air band is quite noisy on my new Pro-96 when using the included rubber duck antenna. After switching to an old extendable whip type (purchased a while back from Grove Enterprises) the background noise drops noticeably, and sensitivity improves (I'm about 4 miles from my local airport), for example ground freq's come in better.

Is there a rubber duck type antenna that will provide similar benefits but be more portable than the whip?

A duck designed for the air band will be a bit bettr, but as they say "size matters!" :twisted:

I assume the PRO-96 has the same stock antenna as the PRO-95. (they look the same)
I bought one of the long RS ducks and it works a little better on 118-137 on my 95 than the stock duck.

Check out the category for handheld antennas. I picked up a Maldol antenna made for VHF/UHF aircraft, and it works quite nicely on both my Pro 96 and my BC 250D. I can pick up KSWF about fifteen miles away with just the duck antenna...and I do not have flat terrain between me and the airport.
