Wondering if anyone has some suggestions as to some IDs on these current VHF air frequencies. They're in my list because at some point I've heard something on it somewhere that wasn't already documented. The rest of my current VHF air programming is fine for my scanning. My VHF listening range is primarily eastern Ontario and western Quebec within a good 150-200 kms 150nm from my location and anywhere up to 40,000 ft. So I know this is quite a range but hopefully someone else may have a better signal on these frequencies.

My current VHF air departments I have programmed where all my frequencies go are as follows:

VHF (This is where my unknowns go)
UNICOM
Ontario Flight Service Stations
London - Flight Information Centre
Airline On-Board Channels
CYTA - Pembroke
CYOW - Ottawa International Airport
CYYB - North Bay Jack Garland Airport
CYGK - Kingston
CYYZ - Pearson International Toronto
CYTR - Canadian Forces Base Trenton
CYBG - Bagotville (I don't believe I get any of these)
CYMX - Montreal Mirabel Airport
CYUL - Montreal Pierre Elliott Trudeau Int'l
CZUL - Montreal Area Control Centre
CZYZ - Toronto Area Control Centre
KZBW - Boston Area Control Centre
KZOB - Cleveland ARTCC

Corrections to your list:

123.700 is KROC Approach

126.175 is a Toronto Center PAL @ Wiarton (CYVV)

129.250 Continental Airlines no longer exists, merged with United. Also, there is still a license at CYYZ for Sky Regional Airlines (radio c/s Maple) Not sure if it's in use ATT.

131.525 - Meridian FBO, KTEB NJ. (One of many users across the continent I'm sure...)

136.850 SITAcom ACARS was changed to 131.725 quite a while ago, Canada-wide.

There are a couple of others in your list that I have never logged activity on but I won't go into that without factual data. As for data posted in the RR database, two points to make. First, I think you can have considerable confidence in the Ontario listings at minimum. Second, the ATC/FIC/FSS frequencies are all published every 56 days in the NAV Canada Canadian Flight Supplement so they can be verified instantly by anyone with access to that publication. Company and data link frequencies are not part of that document.

Thanks so much for the input. I'll look into editing a few more of these now. My list of unknowns have decreased now so this is good.

One doesn't realize how far you can actually hear planes until you organize the frequencies properly. It's quite interesting having my flight radar active at the same time as listening to them to see how far some of these planes really are when you hear them.

Glad to help. Company Ops. frequencies can be a challenge as the ground handler may be a contractor in many cases, so commercial flights from numerous airlines may just call "Montreal", or "Ops" but no-one from the actual airline is at the other end.
There have been a series of buy-outs and mergers of airport service providers over the years as well so the names have changed (Hudson, Swissport, dnata) but the online hobbyist databases may not catch up.

When I started at YYZ nearly 40 years ago Hudson General was the major player at Terminal 1. These days probably very few people here have ever heard of them. We (as in Transport Canada at the time) were the provider of 130.650 which was shared by a number of operators at YYZ, from Hudson General to BA and KLM, each with at least one desk set in their operations offices. They shared the frequency and because of the simplistic nature of the "hub" for the various drops they all heard each other's calls but could only transmit one at a time (automatic PTT lock-out was part of the system).

The good old days of copper wire and lots of relays....

Just to give you an idea as to location I'm talking about. This is a screenshot from my FlightAware setup. I have no problems picking up aircraft at 200km or more sometimes on VHF air.

In amongst my list, I also have 122.9 listed as Fire Reporting & District Common however it doesn't sound anything like that sort of traffic.

It does look like it falls into the area where some Unicom frequencies are, but it doesn't sound like that or any of the Unicom type traffic in the area.

I also have some questionable frequencies such as 122.475 listed as a Fire plane and 123.575 Fire Suppression Primary 4.

I can't see these being active fire frequencies at this time nor does the radio traffic make it seem that way. There's also been no major forest fires either lately.

Any suggestions?
