Hello:

Could anyone recommend a Specific Brand/Model antenna that would fit in my
attic, and cover the Marine VHF fm channel freq's only that they are very happy with ?

I need a decent amount of gain, as am a fair distance from harbor, so this would
necessitate a very directional type, I think, to enable it to have meaningful gain.
Thinking of a Yagi or a Log Periodic type, probably.

Would not need to be omni, therefore, as it would always be pointed towards harbor.

Anyone using any that they particularly like ? (around $ 75 max.)

Thanks,
B.
BTW: would it violate any rules to post this also in the antenna Forum ?

It's considered a no-no to cross post - but thanks for asking.

AFAIK I've never seen a marine-band only Yagi or LP; it's an interesting question. Grove sells their Scanner Beam, and DPD Productions has something like it as well. Check our Scanner Antennas wiki for the links. Depending on your terrain, if you're a good distance from the water, you're going to need whatever you buy to be mounted up high....

I guess you've already searched for commercial antennas without much sucess.

I see two options:

- Build one (not that hard)
- Modify a 2 meter beam. Since a 2 meter antenna is going to be longer than what you need, you would simply shorten the elements to what's needed for 156.8mhz.

That might be a good way to to actually since you'd have commerical quality, cut specifically for your application.

Hmmm...wouldn't you also need to shorten the spacing between the director/reflector and each of the following directors as well? 73s Mike
