It's just absolutely booming in here tonight, (right in the center of central CNY ; ) best I've heard this summer.

I use as a sort of beacon a 3600-2L trunk control channel on 142.260 - it's S9+ (normally can't hear it at all).

The entire 142-143 MHz band is full of Toronto emergency frequencies (police, ambulance) including a mixture of analog FM and P25 stuff...

The other night UHF was wide open also, great ducting. I was picking stuff up I had no business hearing, like the Delaware statewide 800 TRS at near full signal strength on a handheld 346XT with a rubber ducky UHF antenna standing on flat ground.

It was great. This has been a great year for ducting DX. My best catch to date, of all time, happened this year, and that was trunking the Washington DC 800 system using my 396XT and the stock antenna.
And it wasn't just catching the system ID and calling it receiving, but full fledged P25 decoding. I heard communications clear enough to decode. Last week or two weeks I decoded Delaware's P25 system and the Philadelphia P25 system too via ducting. The P25 audio held up rather well despite the duct.

I was listening to Dutchess County (155.415 D654) using my second scanner with a collapsed telescoping antenna the other night.

I'm here a lot
And on the flipside (around the same time), up in Toronto I was getting : Niagara (VHF HI),Erie (UHF), Chautauqua,(VHF HI )Genesee(VHF LO), Wyoming(VHF HI), Monroe (VHF HI, but no UHF digital) and Ontario (VHF HI) NYS Thruway Buffalo, and NYS Trooper 155.505 110.9 PL.

On the best days I can snag Jefferson Co. Sheriff on 154.755 which is the same freq. as Niagara but a different PL.
