VHF Highband Skip June 22 2012

Last night around 3am in Kalamazoo MI I heard transmissions from 154.86 PL. 156.7 which I discovered was the main dispatch frequency for the Crawford County Ohio Sheriff's Department Crawford County, Ohio (OH) Scanner Frequencies and Radio Frequency Reference (about 200 miles away). The signal was weak but still intelligible. I cross checked the transmissions I was hearing on the scanner with the live audio feed Crawford County Sheriff and Fire Live Scanner Audio Feed and they matched.

Central Indiana is rocking right now. I mean with two 2045 sweeping 150-159 it sounds like we have gone back to the day of VHF simplex. We just had a big thunderstorm group pass. Heard them talking about Bluegrass Power and some broken poles.

been picking up lots of counties north of tampa this evening, some over 200 miles away. never heard quite this many transmissions that far away before. pretty interesting.
