October 3rd 2011 @ 13:00 to 13:30 Pacific Time

Reciever is located in Gardnerville,Nevada

Ive been hearing some unusual skip today.

Searching the 29.0000 mhz to 33.0000 mhz range, and higher range, but nothing heard

While searching the U.S.Govt 30.000 mhz to 30.5500 mhz range i encountered on 30.3750 mhz FM (I tried .3700 and .3800 but .3750 is centered) hyper type communication's in what sounded like Vietnamese, but i cant confirm this, this comunication went on continuous for about 30 minutes, fading in and out and towards the end of reception it was full quieting.

Then it was gone, meanwhile i am still recieving Spanish Comms (Taxis from So America or Mexico?)
and English Comms from New York,Mass,Tennessee area and some from Southeast USA.

My Question is has anybody else heard what i have described?

I know what most asian dialects sound like, this one baffled me.

Ive been messining around with radio equipment since Jr.High School (1972), ive worked for a Motorola Contractor as Installer/Troubleshooter, ive had Scanners and other radios ive messed with, ive been a fanatic about my DXing, so ive always shot for the best in Antennas,Coax,Recievers, ive got a running log of Freqs from almost the entire spectrum of Two-Way Radio freqs, ive still got my Police Call Books from 1977 to current 1997 (Last one i bought) i love to play detective and search out Freqs and Tones, I.D.s Etc.

My point is if anybody responds to my question, they dont have to talk to me as if im a dummy, i understand technical language, im familiar with most anything (But not everything)LOL.

That message was to do away with any (Newbee) instruction's to me on the basics i allready know, this has happened before when i post a Question.

Im asking this question because i doubt i will ever discover what i was hearing o 30.3750 mhz/Fm/Csq, and i want to log it for future questions that will no doubt arise from the skip cycle(Solar 24?).

Thanks Gvranchosbill

Hi gvranchosbill

When searching from 30.00 - 30.55 go to 30.60 FM as there are some military comm's there that I pick up from somewhere. As for your question, no I have not heard any asians on that frequency yet. And I have been having lots of skip on 32.8250 FM

When i started hearing this unkown language, the skip cycle wasnt like it is now and im hearing the same language for about 2 hours in the late afternoon.

Now have determined that they are fishing boats (Hearing Diesel Engines in background)
After listening for a while i believe now they are in the South Pacific.

Last time i heard them the were on almost every freq from 28.605 mhz to 31.950 mhz all using tone squelch.

I dont speak the language, but the it sounds like those lislands down there if you were to try and prenounce them using the spelling.

This is only a wild guess, and yes there are maybe over a 100 channels that were talking that day and none used a pl tone.

At the same time frame (Late Afternoon) a friend of mine was talking on 11 meters from Nevada to Hawaii.

Here are the Military Freqs and Tones i have logged todate.

I heard mil coms on that freq and with that tone, so i did a Google Search if i remember correctly and that is what came back.

I wish i knew how i came accross that info, but the skip is rolling in so fast that unless write everything down i forget some things, i wouldnt had posted it if i wasnt sure.

The majority of my captures are coming from the extreme S/E United States (Alabama,Arkansas,Florida,Mississippi Areas) also (So America,Mexico,Puerto Rico?)and the N/E United States (Ohio,New York,New Jersey,Maryland,Pennsylvania Areas) also (Ontario Canada)

Ive been using your logs for some of my captures and there are still some odballs i cant find any info on.

Now i am wanting to find where i got Mississippi Nat Guard (Air) Air Guard was mentioned from this info now i remember reading.

45.980 with squelch 203.5 is a good indicator for Alabama. That is the state prison net and the stations ID frequently in Morse code. I have logged:

KSZ783JA Morse ID, AL Prison, Elmore AL
KNFR245 Morse ID, AL Prison, Bessemer AL

I did a search of 36.2500 mhz and didnt find my source for Mississippi National guard however i was routed to Radio Reference Mississippi State of (NG Operations) and did find it in that database with no tone or repeater input.

I cant figure out the other place i found it yet, it had more information on the Mississippi Nat Guard using 36.2500mhz.

Ill keep trying.

Its 12:00pm PT and 33mhz Fire Freqs are booming in from the North East
Also 31mhz Business Band Farmers Etc in the South East.

Very interesting - never heard that one. Thanks for posting.

I might retract that one and go with:

Thermo-Jet Inc
Cliffside Park,NJ

Frequency.Input.....License......Type.Tone...Discription...........Mode
036.2500...41.7100.WNPQ686.BR....146.2.Oil.Spill.Clean.Up.FM

Though i havent confirmed, comms refered to a person in the baracks?, not a very busy freq.
This license info is the only repeater ive been able to find for this freq.
And freq is allocated for Oil Spill Clean-Up.
I will listen to it some more and see if i can determine if in fact they talk about Oil related or Military related.

My MUF has only so far gone to 40.000mhz and that was brief, the constant is 38.000mhz
I got skip in the 48.000mhz portion of the band about june or july but not since then.
