• Effective immediately we will be deleting, without notice, any negative threads or posts that deal with the use of encryption and streaming of scanner audio.

We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

If you violate these guidelines your post will be deleted without notice and an infraction will be issued. We are not against discussion of this issue. You just need to do it in the right place. For example:

Interesting that it states "..This antenna will help you to hear BOTH Sides of the conversation.. not just dispatch." as if one would have the input programmed, guess he's claiming it's a hot antenna. Never tried it to answer your question, but at $9.95, I've bought worse. You could always give it away to another user if it didnt work out.

Just looking at the size of the antenna, it appears to be a sleeve dipole design. It should be better than the rubber duck that comes on portable scanners.

Properly tuned for the 800MHz Police Band. Picks up well on VHF/UHF Frequencies
"Police Band"?
800MHz is for almost anything. If it is "tuned" for 800MHz it's not going to do well on UHF and poorly on VHF.

This guy sounds sound as a glorifed CB'er.

Dude, I can build that thing for like $3. Its a freaking peice of PVC pipe, 2 end caps and most likeley a dipole or J-pole inside. Send me the parts and I will send you back an antenna.
