I built a nice one from a camera tripod for use in a hotel room while out of town at ham fests. Drilled the part where the camera would sit for the NMO connector. Works GREAT!

I use a $20 speaker stand via Amazon and put three sandbags at the base. I tie/strap it if windy. A painters telescoping mast inside of that will usually get it high enough with nearby terrain, if necessary.

Are you looking for a tripod to mount a VHF antenna on the roof? like this --> https://www.amazon.com/Skywalker-Si...jbGlja1JlZGlyZWN0JmRvTm90TG9nQ2xpY2s9dHJ1ZQ==

Or are you looking for a temporary portable setup? I like the idea of a camera tripod as N4KVE suggests. A camera tripod will work as long as the antenna isn't too big. Not only that. but camera tripods usually come with a head allowing you to change the azimuth and elevation.. This would be handy if you're interested in satellite work.

I use a pvc stand for the Elk antenna. Flat across the band and more compact than the Arrow.

Go on craigslist for your local area and look for survey tripods. I paid 20 bucks for mine. Have my discone up 25 feet on a pvc type telescopic flag pole. I put heavy bricks on the lower legs. Has withstood 60 mph winds. This picture was a different setup.

For temporary use, I use an Amazon Basics speaker stand with 4 sections of military mast. My antenna is attached to a 2 foot length of PVC pipe that fits in the top pole. I also use sandbags on the legs to make sure it won't move.

I’m almost embarrassed to say that I was using an artificial Xmas tree stand until this weekend. Had to make other plans when we put up the Xmas tree. Now I’m using the patio table umbrella holder and it is working pretty well. Don’t judge!

No judging at all! I've used a surplus Christmas tree stand for temporary portable operation for years. Right now, a stand is holding up a 800MHz yagi on a pole upstairs. At one point, we were getting new trees about every 5 years (after the pre installed lights died) and I would keep the stands! I knew I would have a use for them!

The joy of ham radio is taking unrelated items and repurposing them for our use!

In addition to the Xmas tree stand, I was using an 18’ telescoping aluminum lightbulb changing pole. I used a pvc coupling where the ID was the same as the OD of the pole and the OD was the same as the ID of the stand. Had it up about 5 months all over the property to find the best location for a more permanent antenna. Was using a Larson triband with a base station ground plane converter. Worked pretty well in high winds too though I’d recommend adding a 25 lb barbell weight at the bottom. Wife nicknamed it “The Monstrosity”.
