Good evening everyone,

Vice President JD Vance landed at McGhee Tyson Airport in Knoxville, TN approx. 5:30pm. I'm currently scanning 164 to 170MHz and so far I haven't heard anything.

Mike

TFR in place for weekend visit, you won't here much unless you are close by where he is at.

I'm within two miles of where he's supposedly staying at.

Maybe maybe not, they don't use true repeaters but rather a VOIP/satellite system. You'll probably have better luck hearing locals. From command post during a VP visit last year.

Oddly enough, there was none that I heard, but I had everything else turned down while I concentrated on the Fed bands.

They have mobile repeaters they use sometimes depending on how large scale the event is. It's normally radio to radio but this setup reflects these units receiving their radio traffic and sending it to a mobile command post set up a several miles away and also to a few other undisclosed locations so they can communicate to each of those comm centers with ease.

Local and State were using LAW MA 6 for stuff at TYS and the Motorcade. Once they got to Blackberry Farms property they all switched to BCSO 2 and were told to have secure on.

Depends on the City/Region - they do tend to use the normal SS Repeaters if they are already in place, those also do get used regularly for the one of it's original purposes, Financial Crimes

Back when NH was quite popular for the Primaries, USSS had multiple sites active across the state.
No more tho.

The left picture I can see on the right unit "TANGO"; which would be USSS 164.650 MHz.
The motorcade almost always uses USSS "OSCAR" 164.8875 MHz for POTUS; same for VP? not sure.

Tango, with a NAC of 001 is what I was hearing in repeater mode, then once they got to Blackberry, either a hill was blocking me or they went simplex, as I began to receive them so weak most of the time I couldn't decode the NAC or UID.

Charlie/Tango is VP pair
New combination for me

My experience has always been (alteast for the normally permenant sites)

Tango - Repeater and 165.5625 (un-named) as the input or 166.5625 (also un-named) that latter usually programmed in error (typo)
Charlie - Repeater and 166.4000 Golf as the input

Sorry for the confusion, I did not mean they were linked (as in input/output) but rather those were the two channels typically used on a VP visit.
