Victor units

When I listen to area law enforcement agencies, I sometimes hear units with phonetic words. For example, on Adams County I hear King 33 and I would assume that is a K-9 unit. But I also hear Victor units, especially on Jefferson County and Arapahoe County. Does anybody know what those are? I've seen in some jurisdictions they are volunteers, but do any of the local agencies use volunteers like that?

Many times, in metro agencies these are Vice/Narc units.

Other units I can remember without my listings:
Arapahoe - K-9
Co Springs - Drug Free School Zone?
Fort Follins - Chiefs

Up here in Longmont Victor units are the special enforcement units/Vice.

Victor units in Jeffco are supervisors SGT't, LT's etc.

Notice that whenever a car responds emergent to a call dispatch get "victor unit approval".

Yes, the Victor Units are what are listed after the agency.

They can REALLY VARY from jurisdiction to jurisdiction. I can't remember who, but someone uses X-RAY for their animal wardens.

Those Victor units can vary a lot! I heard a standoff for Jefferson County this afternoon, and just like Jim said they cleared code 3 through one of the Victor units. I also heard a zebra unit for Jeffco. Assuming that is their version of a K-9 unit?

I thought one of the ideas with radioference was they were going to put call signs online for things like this. I've gotten bits and pieces, and there are some counties with information, like Boulder County, but nothing with all of them. I would be very interested in understanding what I'm hearing. If anybody is interested, I'd be willing to compile a list of area call signs and then post a file with them all in sorted by agency. A while back somebody explained the Arapahoe County Sheriff units. Maybe that would help everybody fill in the blanks? I'd help with everything I have.

Here's some without digging up my old notes. Denver / Yankee=crime lab / Baker=support,ie tow truck, bicycle pick up truck etc. / Lincoln=sheriffs / Ida=internal affairs / King=K9 / Post=foot patrol / Frank=traffic engineers.

Regarding my last post, I think I meant Zebra=animal control for Jeffco.

Victor Units - Western Slope

Here in Mesa County the "VICTOR" units are citizen voluteers.
