Looking for a windows 10 program that I can view the control channel data, (voice frequency, affiliation, users etc) I had an older one for windows 7 but don't remember it's name. Just need for type 1 used in my area.

Pro96com will read the formatted control channel data from the 996XT.
Select the 396 model for the data source scanner.
You may have to run it as Admin also but not sure on that.

Proscan is not a control channel decoder like the OP is looking for.
No idea on the crash.
The exe date should be from 2017 which would be the latest version. Don't go by the file info for the various scanner models.
Did you right click the icon and select to Run as Administrator? That's the only thing I can think of. You can also try the compatibility mode settings and try Win 7 or even XP and see if they allow the program to run.
Do you have an active and working com port listed in device manager?
Which version of Windows? Standard Windows 10, or Windows 10 SE?
