Maybe someone can help me out, when Fire, and Rescue units are toned out in Vigo County I can hear them tone out on my Pro 95 on there traditional freq and hooiser safe-t. I hear Honey Creek Units talking when they go enroute and are working on an inccident... But I can't hear the other fire companies, some I'm closer to than Honey Creek... I can hear Sugar Creek tone out, but can't hear them talk to dispatch, Otter Creek, Seelyville, and the rest are the same..

Any ideas???

I have all of the Tac freqs programed also but it doesn't seem to help...

The FD's in Vigo County are dispatched on a simplex channel, not on a repeater like most other counties do it. So you're probably able to hear a) Vigo County dispatch, because they have a big antenna, b) Terre Haute State dispatch for the same reason, c) maybe ISU dispatch, d) maybe Trans-Care dispatch, and e) units near you. You are not able to hear mobile and portable units that are far away from you, even though the dispatch centers can hear them, because the dispatch centers' antennas are bigger than yours. If you want to hear all the units, I recommend installing a fifty-foot tower and mounting your antenna to the top.
