The police are all digital, but fire is not as yet. I had to replace my BC780 with my 996T to hear the action.

That depends on where in NW WI you`re at, up in my home county (Douglas) i can hear Washburn County really well and they don`t use ANY encryption at all (for now...knocks on wood ). N9NRA

The police and sheriff will use encryption sometimes. You have t remember: they are still playing with their new toys. This is why I use my BCD996T instead of my PSR-600. It keeps the encryption noise out.
