Just heard a Lincoln unit from Vinita call into Troop B Tulsa because he could not reach Vintia. I didn't expect a Lowband troop to have 800 radios in there units. Guess I should think better now.

I heard that too.

Why do I get the feeling someone just got an 800 radio in his car and was looking for a reason to use it?

Or perhaps he was reassigned from an area that had 800MHz coverage.

Actually, the state is expanding the number of troopers that have 800MHz radios as the budget allows. I am not surprised that they would assign those radios to troopers that border 800MHz coverage.

By the way, ALL troopers have Low Band radios, even those in areas with 800MHz coverage. In an emergency, troopers may have to react to situations anywhere in the state. The Low Band system is the only statewide system for the Highway Patrol.

I didn't think that Troup L had 800 in the Cars either. I have pay more attention when I work wrecks with them to note what antenna's and/ or radios they have.

If I'm right he was working a wreck on North 169... I can't remember if the cross Street was 36th or 136th.

Either way that is Troup B's area. Troup L's boundary is N 145th E Ave in that area.

I can tell you one of the Troupers from Troup L just got a new Camaro :)

Just FYI I used to be able to get Troop L here in Tulsa on (155.46) mobile and (44.7) base. Well now I don't here that anymore. I get Troop K Pawnee on the relay here in town (154.695) and sometimes hear the Pawnee Troop K base on (44.7). Also the Turley relay here in town has had a PL change. It used to be PL (77.0) but it has changed to (82.5).
Last why doesn't Troop B Tulsa still broadcast (COSs) and (Be On The Look Out For) on their old low band anymore. They did it simualcast with the 800 up until like 2 years ago. I would hear the the 800 as well as the old Troop B Base 155.31 and 45.22 as well. I always loved it when theywould talk on (155.31) to (154.695) because (155.31) was a strong signal anywhere in town. I guess they don't need anymore and use it for back up.

I wrote down he was at 169 and 146TH st. North. I'm picking up traffic on 44.700 and 45.220 but not sure if it's Vinita or Pawnee.

For me listen to Vinita (Troop L) is hit or miss. Mostly miss from my base scanner (PRO2037) but, my PRO95 dose pretty well in certain parts of Rogers County. My Base has a cheep RS Scanner Antenna mounted 30 foot from the ground.

i could pick up Pawnee and Vinita on 44.700 with no problem . but i built a homemade 1/4 wave indoor antenna . so i pretty much picked up everything with in a 100 mile radius . every once in awhile i could hear OKC talking to a unit on the turnpike . i guess it just depends on the conditions for the signal to travel . there isnt much 800 traffic in the washington co area far as i know of . most of that is going to be on the turnpike or in the larger cities .

I think Vinita still uses 44.70 but that's for the units in Washington & Nowata counties.
I hear Vinita on 45.22 for the main dispatch channel.
Tulsa can still be heard on 45.22 once in a blue moon but they stay on 800
24/7 & I have a PRO-94 TrunkTracker handheld scanner & OHP troop B is
on the Tulsa 800 system.
I have the talkgroup codes for Troop B if anyone needs them.
When I was in Tulsa,I really enjoyed listening to Troop B on 154.695 &
155.310 'cuz they were so easy to tune into on my scanner.
I'll try to remember listening between 44.70 & 154.695 next time 2 see if
I hear anything.
44.70 is also used by Pawnee,OKC,Muskogee,Clinton,Lawton & Enid
45.22 is also used by Altus,Ardmore & McAlester.
138.05 is the air support frequency "Ocean" units.
