i have alot of old vintage radios and cb radios that all work, this one looks like the maxon i will post a picture if it lets me, the label says advanced tech talk bc-360 but i cant find anything on the net about it but looks identical to the maxon. i have no clue the specs i do know its crystal type and has 2 crystals in it still, the guy who i got it from was a retired fire chief and was his when he was on the department so i am pretty sure it it has some reach to it if it was worked on . the picture is not of my radio but the ones that look identical to the one i have

Motorola/GE Radio & a Johnson Avenger Mobile

Here are a few radios pushing 25+ years old. All work, however as you may imagine, some of them need batteries;)

Yes, there are radio's both amateur and commercial that will allow you to accomplish this. Off the top of my head, just about any ham/amateur radio will allow this permitting you have your ham license. As for commercial; The Motorola XTS5000 with FPP as a flash option, the Motorola JT1000 if it has the adapter, & I have a Kenwood 805D that can be field programmable by the front panel. I'm sure there are more. GMRS is a good for using commercial equipment, you will also need a GMRS license to be legal there. I hope this helps. Good Luck and welcome to the world of 2-Way Radio.

Great starter radio, I have a Quansheng Dual Band. In the age of IRLP, the radio you mentioned may not perform DTMF. At least mine doesn't. Other than that it should serve you well.

I have a old Airline console radio, made around 1950 that still works.
Also has a record player.

Another Airline tube radio out in the garage - AM only.

I love me some vintage radios, it is an addiction I have been feeding since the mid/late 1960’s. With the exception of a few I sold off when I went in the military in the 70’s I have pretty much kept one copy of every "old" radio I have ever found/owned. And yes, I have moved a few times in that time…it makes moving a real effort, they don’t call them boatanchors for nothing.

woebbers, I also have a Hallicrafters S-40B here, also an S-40A. No pictures of the S-40B online, but the S-40A is second from bottom, on
the right side here (all of the radios in this pic are functional):

I do not have pictures of most of my radios online, or a complete list of radios that I have at the house (or in the shop, garage, sheds, etc). Not all of my radios are operational, but I am not counting any parts rigs in the below list, they either work or I am in the process of refurbishing them, I would say 75%+ of this list is functional. Off the top of my head, listed by maker (probably gonna miss some, pretty much only going to list receivers with a couple of exceptions, and not going to list scanners/hand helds, except for a couple of Hallicrafters not listing portables):

Collins: 51S-1, 75S-3, R-388, R-390A, R-392

Drake: 2-C, R4-B, R-7A, SSR-1

Hallicrafters: S-16, S-20R, SX-28, SX-28A, S-38, S-38A, S-38C, S-38E, S-40A, S-40B, S-53, SX-62, S-76, S-81, S-82, S-85, S-94, S-95, SX-99, SX-100, SX-117, SX-122, CR-3000, WR-4000, TW-600, TW-1000A, TW-2000, SR-42A, SR-46A, and several Hallicrafters speakers and a couple of CBs.

Hammarlund: HQ-100, HQ-105TR, HQ-110, HQ-120, HQ-129-X, HQ-140, HQ-145X, HQ-170, HQ-180A, HQ-200, and several Hammarlund speakers for receivers and a couple CBs.

Heathkit: HR-10, HR-20, GC-1 and GC-1A Mohicans, GR-54, GR-64, GR-91, MR-1 Comanche, RX-1 Mohawk, SB-301, SB-303

Lafayette: HE-30, HE-80, HA-230, HA-50A, HA-55A, PF-200A, BCR-101

National: HRO-60, NC-57, NC-88, NC-173, NC-183, NC-190, NC-240, and NC-300.

Realistic/Radio Shack: DX-75, DX-100, DX-150, DX-150A, DX-150B, DX-160, DX-200, DX-300, DX-302, DX-400, Allied/Realistic SX-190, others around but don’t remember their models off the top of my head.

RME: RME-45 with presel and VHF converter, RME-69

Yaesu: FRG-7, FRG-7000, FRG-7700, FRG-8800 (not sure those last two should be listed as “vintage”)

Misc manufacturer military gear: BC-186, R-366, RBB, RCH, several different versions of the BC-348, and most of an RAB-4 set

About a dozen console radios, such as a 1935 Philco 16X, a 40-180, a 41-260, 41-300X.

Yeah, my wife is pretty understanding about it all. In fact, I would say she has located about 25% or a little more of the radios I have in the collection.

T!
