I have noticed that since going live on the SARA Network that Benton County is dispatching solely on Pagers so you no longer hear what the call actually is. Is that typical across the state?

It looks like everything is on the p25 phase 2 tdma system I am getting all the unencrypted with a trx1 most active talk groups are the fire when something gets going or blairstown as far as Urbana PD there having problems with their police chief so they're not even using it I don't think yes an iq scanner would perform better than the TRX but it does work and you have to fish for a good spot

I think it's worth it there's so much DMR around, Whistler scanner usually gets it just fine
I heard that as well after I started asking around locally as to why just one day they stopped broadcasting. As of April 10th they no longer have PD in Urbana. I believe the entire county is now on the Sara System and just use Event Channels for the most part but all Sherriff and Police (Belle Plaine) are encrypted. Not all towns have Talk/Chat channels yet as they haven't installed them in all of the vehicles or if they have they haven't tested them yet. I do have a few TGIDs that I can't identify yet but I run my SDS nightly after 3:30pm on Benton Simulcast only searching and recording to hopefully catch the volunteer firefighters testing in their towns.

Also it repeats the call channels from state of iowa and they dont repeat any of linn county or the city pd there. But ems and fd mutual aid fd will show up. Heard tama and powashiek there too. When doing mutual aid stuff.
I have a few here that I am trying to figure out which i'm assuming it is a town in Benton County and their Fire Chat/Talk Group based on the others but they didn't specify who they were. Atleast this kind of stuff I find fun, kind of like the hunt of new frequencies back in the day when the new books would come out at Radio Shack

Yeah that's good to collect those and figure out what they are Benton county dispatches seem to be on 100 + 6 digits encoded and 2xxxxx seems to be real active too I have a bunch of unitrunker data on it which has a list of every channel they've used. Good news on Urbana PD being gone I did not like them, they used real sketchy excuses to pull you over. I think radio traffic mostly is Vinton Atkins and Blairstown. If the fire departments get going that's about all you'll hear. I could see a denied showing up then. And the EMS got more funding North benton ambulance so they'll be doing okay.

Scan the input at +30mhz above the outputs and you can tell when going through a particular town, scan the output with the digital scanner and get which talkgroup is active, ID by location. TDMA is pulsed on the input so it may not even break squelches. Or get a directional antenna on a tower and locate the direction of the input signal.
I saw there was a lot of chatter tonight with the storms. I was going to go through my recordings in the morning.

It's like a jigsaw puzzle. I miss a lot of new TGIDs during the day since I listen to the wide array of stations across the area while I'm working but I put just Benton on ID Search every night and review each morning.
It's either Watkins or Urbana. I believe all the other cities are covered. Then again I believe Norway services Watkins
